Since the turn of the year, the new window coating quality of ADLER is being used in all "spray plants": Acryl-Spritzlack Q10.

The window manufacturer, Josko, in Kopfing in Upper Austria is using it as much as Rieder KG in Zillertal, Tyrol. And all of them share the same opinion: the switchover was well worth it. The quality has been optimised, though this is also expected when the ADLER Paints Factory launches a new product. In addition, it is much easier to use and the costs have reduced.

Q10 – DECISION-MAKING FOR THE NEW QUALITY

"The issues of faster curing and quicker downstream processing have prompted us to change over to the ADLER Q10", says Josef Reisinger, the foreman at Josko. He has migrated to the new coating already by the end of 2010. "After a few trials we came to the conclusion that this was a substantial step towards enhancing the quality". For Roland Eberharter too, the Chief of window production at Rieder, the improved quality was the decisive reason for migrating from ADLER E-Statik quality to Q10. "There is, nonetheless, yet another pleasant side effect", says Eberharter. "We save hard cash. It is not merely that the Q10 dries quickly and has greater block resistance as a result of which we can expedite our downstream processing. Owing to the improved quality, we also save on the Acryl-Spritzfüller and hence, in turn, time and money."

PROCESSING FOR PROFESSIONALS

For both these companies, the decision-making was easy since the migration did not necessitate any major modifications in the spray plant. While Rieder simply applied the coating of E-Statik quality used formerly and continued processing seamlessly using Q10, there were certain minor modifications made at Josko. "However, it was not necessary to make major modifications in the plant, and only a minor change was made for recovery of the coating", says Josef Reisinger. "We have no problems whatsoever with the pumps and spray guns." Above all, when finishing touches are given manually with the spray gun, using Q10 is well worth it. This is because it does not need to be thickened subsequently for the hand-held spray gun.

Sound processing for industrial manufacturers was the declared goal of the ADLER research laboratory where the Q10 was developed. "The large manufacturers desired shorter drying times. And, as a matter of fact, we have reduced them by 30 percent", says Dr. Peter Hoernes who is in charge of window coatings at ADLER. "In the process, the challenge was to retain the good levels of weather-resistance, insulation and block resistance that were already prevalent. Finally, we were able to improve many factors, in fact", explains Dr. Hoernes. This is true of Acryl-Spritzlack Q10 as well as of the thick-layer glaze finish of Q10 quality, which will be launched in the spring season of 2011.

COMFORT AT HOME

After all, all these benefits reach the end user. The Q10 provides a more natural look for wooden windows. It is silky matt and this is exactly how it feels. "In fact, the fitters at site have also noticed that the windows are better to the touch", enumerates Mr. Eberharter from the company Rieder. That is a good feeling for all those who have decided to opt for the most natural of all materials – the feel to the touch depends on the coating. This, of course, includes the proven ADLER quality having the maximum durability.
